LIFESTYLE: This Week #3

Hey, hope you're all well!
This is a post about last week as I completed my first week working for a study holiday firm in London. It has been amazing and I have been able to see all the sights of London and give guided tours meaning I've got to know many parts of London very well and have taken endless amounts of tubes which has eradicated my fear!
The lack of blog posts has been due to working all day every day and it has been truly exhausting. But it has all been worth it for the experience! All pictures were taken on my iphone 5s - I'm pretty well with how some of them have turned out, most unedited! So read on to find out what I've been up to...

The Shard - Where I am working is really close to the shard and London bridge so is in a great location. I didn't actually go up the shard but it is cool to see every day.

St Pauls cathedral - I didn't go inside but I took this picture of St Paul's Cathedral as I walked over Millenium bridge as its such a gorgeous building. I took the children on a walking tour of South Bank and this is where I ended!

South Kensington Museums - I went to the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum which was a cool experience. These museums are free so I definitely recommend going if you're heading to London. The city definitely has more to offer than just shopping!

Tower bridge - Probably the most famous landmark in London, I strolled down the Thames on a lovely sunny day and thought it was the perfect picture opportunity.

Tower of London - I love this image of the Tower of London! I didn't go in there but the building is great and I love this picture that I took!

National Gallery - I'm not really an art person so I didn't really get the national gallery *controversial*. I can see how people would appreciate the art though and I love Trafalgar Square!

Thames cruise - This was definitely the highlight of the week! Cruising down the thames at sunset is an incredible experience everyone needs to have. It was the best way to see London and I saw from Battersea to Greenwich sailing past London's famous monuments included Big Ben and the houses of parliament. It was a disco for the children but I spend most of the time at the front of the boat looking out at the amazing views.

Brighton - On Sunday I went to Brighton on an excursion. The weather was absolutely dreadful and the wind, sea spray and rain made it a bad experience and definitely made me see Brighton in a different light to what everyone else sees it in. I went in the Pavilion which was really nice and bought a lovely dress from French Connection. I sat in a salad bar because it was too awful to be outside! Then we had to walk about half a mile in the atrocious conditions because the coach had broke down... good times! I'm going to go again because I can see why there's such a love of Brighton and I want to experience it!

My week has been a great experience and I've seen a lot of new places. This week I'm doing more touristy London things and on Saturday I am going on holiday, exciting times!

LIFESTYLE: This Week #2

This week has been a week of fun and sunshine and I've spent a lot of it in London. I went to my boyfriends house for the week and did a lot of my favourite hobby - eating out. So it was definitely a good week to do a This week #2!

On Monday I got the train down to my boyfriends and we stopped off for lunch. We had a tapas style lunch as it was about 4pm and we knew we were going to be having a gorgeous paella for dinner. I stayed off the alcohol and grabbed a Fanta whilst snacking on sweet potato fries, bread and oils, olives and the most gorgeous scotched egg. It was so nice to see him and catch up and we had a nice night in chilling.

On Tuesday we went to the Imbibe bar show in Kensington, London and had lots of free alcohol! It was great to try all the up market brands that I had never tried before. It was nice to explore Kensington as it's a place I've never been to before. I also got my university results this day too and I'm happy to say I got all 2:1s and firsts this year and averaged on a high 2:1, so I was super happy!

On Wednesday we had a chilled day messing about in the garden playing on the sit down lawnmower (it's very fun!) It was SOOO hot - the car said 35 degrees which is crazy for England!! We went for early dinner and I had a carb-free healthy meal of salmon. It was so hot though so whilst he went to work I stayed inside catching up on Love Island. (I am OBSESSED with this show at the minute!)

On Thursday we headed into central London as I had to see where my place of work will be in a few weeks. We ate at a lovely place on Southbank (forgot the name!) but they sold such healthy food and I had a Superfood salad with chicken. It had Quinoa and pomegranate seeds and was surprisingly DELICIOUS. I wouldn't say £4/5 is too bad for that especially when you're eating in. I saw the same place on Carnaby Street too later on, so maybe some of you guys may know it. We then went shopping on Oxford Street and Regent Street. I saw Patricia Bright (youtuber) and kinda freaked out but didn't say anything, daym! After a day of shopping, trains, tubes and a bus, it was nice to have a night in with homemade pizzas.

Friday was home time and it was nice to get home and just chill in the garden in the beautiful sunshine. I was happy that it was sunny and warm up north too!

Saturday I chilled and then went to my friends BBQ which was fun!

Today is Sunday and I've been to the gym - need to start getting back into it really! I'm just chilling before I start work tomorrow! I'm working 9-5 Monday-Friday so I don't think there'll be a 'This Week #3' post for a couple of weeks!

Tricks To Stay Cool This Summer

So today Britain hit its hottest July day on record and it has been bloomin' hot! I love summer and nice weather but I'm a bit of a wimp when its hot in England as I don't have a pool to jump in to cool down.

Drink ice water - When its hot, it's obvious that you should drink a lot of water. Putting a bottle full of water and putting it into the freezer for a bit is something everyone used to do in school and why not do it in the summer. It will keep you hydrated and ice will definitely cool you down.

Have a cold shower - So I had 3 cold showers today but how much better do you feel after one?! So much better!

Cool down your feet - Cooling down your feet will cool down your whole body. Dipping your tootsies in some ice is sure to make you feel better in the hot weather.

Make a DIY air conditioner - Position a shallow pan or bowl full of ice in front of a fan. The breeze will pick up cold water from the ices surface as it melts, creating a cooling mist.

Cold compresses on pulse points - This will make you so much cooler and feels very refreshing.

Shut your curtains - In the daytime, sunlight coming in will heat up the room so shutting the curtains will help keep your room cooler.

Hang out a wet towel - The breeze blowing in will quickly bring down the rooms temperature.

Hope these and tricks help you out in this hot weather (if it even lasts)!
