Managing Stress/Revision

For most university students, exam season is in full force and I'm sure a lot of you that are going through this period are feeling the pressure. I most certainly am and with 5 exams, I feel like my whole life is revolving around revision. I have just had my second exam and don't have an exam until Tuesday now so I am giving myself a bit of a break; catching up with you lot and watching some tv.

Whilst in the university toilets yesterday I saw a couple of quotes that inspired me to make this post. I think mental health is really important and it is something a lot of people neglect when it comes to their education. I believe in doing your best and working hard for your grades, but your brain needs a rest at times. I know people that go to the library from early morning until late at night and I personally don't think it is healthy.

The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose thought over another

Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we  take between 2 deep breaths

I hope this helps some of you feeling the same as me! Whether it be revision, work or the general stresses of life; just remember you're not alone and you WILL survive!

Note: Whilst actually posting this, I have finished my exams and feel so FREE! You will get through it! Take lots of little breaks and still do the things you love! It will be over soon and you can do whatever you want!

My 2015 Highlights

2015 has whizzed by and it has most certainly been an amazing year! I finished my second year of university on a decent grade and headed to Madrid, Greece and Venice. I aim to travel this year too and look forward to what is ahead! My last post was what my goals for this year are, so if you'd like to read those, head over here. 2015 was the year of positivity for me; letting my anxiety take a back seat and making the most of my experiences. I realise that I wrote quite a few posts regarding positive wellbeing.

January
My first blog post of 2015 summed up my end of 2014; strolls with my family around a local woodland park and a trip to Winter Wonderland in London with my boyfriend. I also wrote a post: 'What I learnt in 2014' which is interesting to look back on as well as  a lipstick collection post. I also did a little series: How To Beat The January Blues which included topics on being healthy and pampering yourself which may come in handy to you all right now; I'm definitely taking inspiration from my past advice! After lots of exams, I finally got to enjoy uni which meant going out with friends and partying.

February & March
I did my first (and only-oops!) makeup tutorial on the blog which went down quite well. Apart from a few beauty posts in March, I went a-wall on my blog and didn't come back until May. I explained this in my post: My Blog Disappearance. Meanwhile I was still partying and making the most of  my second year of university.
April & May
Again, a couple of months with a quiet presence on the blog but I was busy at university; studying and having fun. I still managed to do a few posts as I do love the blogosphere but here are a few pictures of me at uni.

June
June was my month of exams followed by freedom and what a summer I was in for! I went to see my fave singer Taylor Swift dressed as a cheerleader from the Shake it off video (cringeeee!). I was back to blogging and had travel on the brain so I felt inspired to write a post on 'Tips for booking a city break'. I was so excited by my freedom and did a 'This Week' lifestyle post which I always love reading when other bloggers write them.

July
July was a crazy month where I secured two jobs for the summer. One was a summer internship in a financial company for 5 weeks broken up over July and August and the other job was working as an activity leader for a study holiday company. I basically guided children from Italy and Argentina around London and it was such an amazing experience. I saw so many places I had never seen before: the Natural History museum, the Science museum, the British museum, the Tower of London, St Pauls Cathedral and even went on a trip to Brighton. Oh, that was an experience; the weather was terrifying. I was getting so excited for summer holidays and couldn't stop buying beauty minis. I also did two 'This week' posts. (1, 2)

August
August was the month where I finished my job in London, visited Madrid and went to my first ever wedding! Madrid was really good; me and my boyfriend saw a new city whilst getting some sun by the pool at the same time. We also got to go see our friend from uni, so it was really relaxing but fun at the same time. I did a post about my trip HERE. I also did some shopping whilst I was there and here is a Madrid Beauty haul post I did. (Sephora!) I also wrote about my poolside essentials.

Everyone finds it crazy that I haven't been to a wedding before but I don't think there will be another one that will quite match it. It was spectacular and every little detail was down to a T. It was my boyfriends cousins wedding and I did an outfit of the day post HERE.

September
This was the month of relaxation before getting back to the stress of uni! I got so excited for my luxurious holiday ahead and I wrote a 'Tips for packing for a holiday' post. I visited the most beautiful resort in Halkidiki and it was so amazing that we want to go back this summer. Unfortunately due to finishing uni and the financial issues that come with it, we can't afford to go to somewhere quite as amazing *cries*. If you'd like to read about our amazing trip and our romantic dinner on the beach, you can read it HERE. I also did an outfit diary whilst there; I didn't wear anything too shmancy but I like taking pictures in my outfits to look back on.

October
This was the month I was back at university and things really kicked in. However I knew there was both mine and my boyfriends birthdays ahead, so summer wasn't truly over. I took my boyfriend to Liverpool as his family originates from there yet he'd never bee. He even supports Liverpool FC! I really liked the city and I think he really enjoyed it too. Read about it HERE.

November
My birthday is on the 1st of November and got taken to Venice as a surprise. I got told THAT morning that we were going to Gatwick. How exciting and amazing! You can read all about the trip HERE and HERE - it was honestly so amazing and is such a beautiful city.

December
December has been my month of thinking, about a lot. I have to think about: exams, graduate jobs, commitments, my finances, holiday booking, and family issues. I'm trying to stay calm but I have to revise a lot as I have 5 exams and it is getting quite stressful to balance everything. December ended with good times at university celebrating Christmas. I had a lovely New Years Ever and am looking forward to what 2016 brings. Read my 2016 goals post HERE. I joined CheerDance at university too so here are a few pictures of me on some of the socials. (Yes, I am dressed as a Lindt Reindeer, love it.) I'm really glad I joined a society properly because I think I would have left uni regretting it.

So here are my 2015 highlights and I hope you enjoyed this post.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE & I hope 2016 brings you all something special!

Lots Of Love,

Goals for 2016

Every year we make goals in the hope that our lives will be much happier but lets be honest, none of us really stick to many of our resolutions. However, I still make them so I thought it would be interesting to share them with you and check back during the year to see how I'd got on. I've split them in to career, health and wellbeing.

CAREER GOALS

Pass my degree with a 2:1 or 1st - So by mid June, I will have finished university with a Mathematics degree (hopefully!). I really hope to gain an upper second class grade or above in order to secure the best job I can do and obviously, to do myself proud. Mathematics is a very hard degree and to complete it with a good grade will be a real life accomplishment.

Get a graduate job - So this follows on from the first goal. I hope to secure a graduate role in something that I will enjoy doing; in an industry I am passionate about. I am very ambitious when it comes to my career and am constantly striving to improve myself. I hope it will all be worth it.

HEALTH GOALS

Convert to a plant based diet - After reading lots of actual scientific evidence on the health benefits of being a vegan and eating a plant based diet, I have been eating vegetarian/vegan most of the time. (I'd say whilst cooking at uni, I cook 100% vegan). As my other goals are to have graduated and gain a graduate job, hopefully in London, I believe this will present lots more vegan options for food on the go.

Cut down on sugar - This kind of comes hand in hand with having a plant based diet. This is because most of the sugary foods I eat include chocolate and sweets - both which include animal based products.

Drink more water - I get headaches really often, especially when I am doing work. I''ve realised it is because I am dehyrated! I tried setting my alarm every hour and ensuring I had drunk a pint and you know what? I, for once, didn't have that headache dizzy feeling that makes me feel nauseous. I have always been bad at drinking water and whilst writing this post, I realise I've drunk half a 500ml bottle of water all day as well as a bit of blackcurrant (and its 11pm at night). So bad.

WELLBEING

Relax a little more - Since meeting my boyfriend, I realised how unnecessarily I stress out. He is pretty chilled out and I used to stress out about the smallest thing. Life is for living to the full and what is the point in getting stressed out? I am currently reading 'The Chimp Paradox' which explains how your mind works and why we act the way we do. You know those times you say something to someone and after, think, 'Why did I say that?!' Well this book helps you control those feelings and helps you become a happier, more successful person. I recommend for you to read it.

Digital detox - Not only does the lack of water give me a headache, I think technology has something to do with it too. Been on my phone and my phone for too long makes me feel dizzy. I think it would be better for my health and well being to stay off my phone, particularly when with my boyfriend and at nighttime.

So there are my goals for 2016. I am not sure whether you will find this interesting but I love reading these kind of posts. I feel that it all comes down to a slight lifestyle change and yo yo dieting will never work so please don't make a silly diet part of your new years resolutions! I will write a post soon on how you change your lifestyle and diet to be healthier.

Lots Of Love,

Alice
