My MAC lipliners

My new obsession regarding beauty is lip liners. I think using lip liners alone looks really good and makes lips look a lot fuller. I feel that MAC is the best brand for lip liners so I definitely want to get more than the three I currently have. I'll tell you about the three I have...

The shades I have are...

My newest addition is BRICK which has been a famous favourite for a while. It is a gorgeous red colour but I thought it would be more orange toned. MAC describes it as an intense golden red, but I don't really understand the golden part. Despite that, it looks gorgeous.

I bought SOAR as it is supposed to be a Kylie Jenner - esque shade. I absolutely love how this looks and it is my favourite MAC liner as of yet. It makes my lips look so dark and full, it is truly gorgeous.

I bought IN SYNCH quite a while ago and it is a really light nude shade. To be honest, I think it is quite hard to apply as it is quite drying. It doesn't have too much colour as it is really really nude and kind of washes me out. It is my least favourite but I could definitely work with it if I had a nice brown nude lipstick over the top of it.

Boots Beauty Haul

When I went home from university  for the weekend and had access to a car, I took a trip to Boots. (obviously). I was going out for my friends birthday so decided to pick up some eyelashes a nice matte foundation. I am so happy with all my purchases and the 3 for 2 offer at Boots makes it even better.

L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Matte Foundation / £7.99 / Link : I have been using the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation for a year or so now and it is quite a dewy finish which I liked. However I felt that in pictures I always looked a little shiny. As the weather gets dry, my face actually gets quite oily. This is a really good foundation and stays on all day. It doesn't budge at all. I genuinely think it is the best foundation in the drugstore that I have ever tried.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder / £3.99 / Link : I have used this for so long so it was just a repurchase. I don't need to say too much as I have talked about it on my blog for a while but it instantly mattifies the skin and the transcluent one I always get means it doesn't alter your foundation colour.

Maybelline Master Sculpt Contour Kit / £6.99 / Link : I have seen this in Boots for some time now and have always wanted to try it. I saw that Mollie from The Saturdays was advertising it and as she is so beautiful, obviously it made me want it. I haven't really used the highlighter, I quite like using the MAC mineralize skin finish in Soft and Gentle and I don't think much could beat that. The contour colour is a really nice matte shadow brown colour - perfect for its job, contouring the face.

Fleur De Force by Eyelure Eyelashes / £5.25 / Link
Nip and Fab Glycolic Scrub / £9.95 (£6.63 on offer currently) / Link : I have used this a few times now and I can honestly say it is a fantastic product. It contains salycylic acid which clears the pores of dirt as well as glycolic acid which is an exfoliant. After using this, my skin feels so smooth.

Sanctuary Spa 5 minute thermal detox mask / £10 (£6.67 on offer currently) / Link : I love this mask as I really feel like it is clearing out my pores. I can feel it doing something as it kind of warms up on your face. Definitely unique as I have never had a thermal face mask before. The price is great and is a lovely 'high end for the drugstore' product.
Boots brow brush and eyelash comb / £4.50 / Link
Real Techniques Shading brush / £7.99 / Link
Brushes aren't too exciting but needed a brow brush and the Real Techniques brush has been on my wishlist for a while. I love Real Techniques brushes so much!

Now it is getting to christmas and all the deals are in full force, what have you been buying?

My First Charlotte Tilbury Product!

So today I am going to talk about my first ever Charlotte Tilbury product. I really want more products from the brand as the packaging looks so stunning and I heard such good reviews about so many of them. I'd really like to try the Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette and the Film star bronze and glow. I am impressed with this product and it most definitely feels like a luxury item.

The shade is a nudey pink kind of shade and appears quite sheer on the lips. It isn't opaque nor matte so is a really wearable shade that can be reapplied without a mirror. This is because it is part of the 'KI.S.S.I.N.G' collection which I am guessing means you can kiss people whilst you wear it because it is sheer! It is pretty pricey for a lipstick (£23) but it will definitely get good use as it is so wearable for everyday or even on a night out paired with smokey eyes.

If I were to buy another lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury I would try one from her 'Matte Revolution' collections as I feel they would be more noticeable and perhaps the lipstick pay off would be worth a little more of the £23 price tag.

What other Charlotte Tilbury products should I try?

Venice Part Two: Murano

Following on from my previous post, I am going to share the beautiful place that is Murano with you. It is an island just off the coast of Venice: about a 7 minute water taxi/bus journey away. This is the island where we stayed for my surprise birthday trip and as you may know, it is famous for Murano glass. We spent the last day of our trip exploring this wonderful town and of course, eating in a beautiful Italian garden.

After looking in all the intricate Murano glass shops and walking past a really cool glass sculpture, we decided it was time for lunch. The #1 Murano restaurant according to tripadvisor was closed so we headed to the restaurant at the #2 spot and I am so glad we did. Situated in a beautiful italian-esque garden surrounded my trees and beautiful architecture we sat down to eat some food. The bruschetta to start was amazing; the best I have ever had. I had tomato pasta with scampi for my mains but wish I went for pizza (again!) because it just looked so good! We then had these really cool desserts upon recommendation from the waitress: white chocolate cream with coconut biscuit and different sauces on the top. Definitely something different from your typical brownie or cheesecake.

After more exploring, we sat at our hotel cafe overlooking the canal where the waterbus station was situated and watched the sun set. We left on our hotel water tranfer at about 5.30 to go to the airport. I was extremely sad to be leaving. Our hotel was called 'La Gare Venezia' (Venezia = Venice in Italian... not meaning to sound patronising but it actually took me a little while to notice). It was a 5* hotel and the decor was so classic, fresh, modern italian. I'll leave you a few pictures of the hotel here so finish off the post!

So thanks for reading and I hope you like these kind of travel posts. I have been lucky enough to visit quite a few places this year so my blog has shifted over to the more travel/lifestyle aspect. I have beauty posts scheduled though so it will still be a mixture on the whole.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU LIKE TRAVEL POSTS & WHERE SHOULD I GO IN ITALY NEXT?

Alice

A Surprise Birthday Trip To Venice

So last week it was my birthday and my boyfriend told me that I had to leave a few days free so that I was going to miss Halloween. I genuinely thought we would be heading to London and doing some sightseeing there. He tricked me when he said 'Yes but where abouts in London?' ... turns out it was London Gatwick airport!!

Upon arriving at Venice airport, I was mesmerised about instead of a bus or train station, it was a water boat station. The airport is on the mainland but Venice is an island connecting to the mainland via a long road but the main way to get there is by water taxi or water boat.

We stayed at an amazing hotel in Murano which is an island really close to Venice, about a 7 minute boat ride from the coast of Venice and is actually closer to the airport. It is famous for Murano glass and we spent our third and final today exploring it. Our first and second days were spent in Venice so as I have A LOT of pictures, I am going to put this in to two posts; part one will be Venice city and part two will be Murano.

In Venice, we wandered around looking at the amazing architecture and eating incredible Italian food such as pizza, pasta and gelato. Italian food is officially my favourite even more so than before. We visited the famous St Mark's square and on the second evening we sat on the south of the island and watched a cruise ship pass through the south coast of Venice and southern island of Giudecca. It was pretty fascinating - those things are big.

Have you guys ever been to Venice?
Look out for my next post which will detail my day in Murano and my hotel and everything.
